No disrespect was meant. I was just making sure you understood, wasn''t sure from your replies, was just trying to help. Was adding a +1 basically agreeing with your desire.
There are already a couple feature requests out there for adding the ability for admins to see other user's dashboards, this being one: http://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtop ... =dashboard. I know there are a couple others but can't find them at the moment.
Admins cannot see Dashboards - only Nagiosadmin user can

Re: Admins cannot see Dashboards - only Nagiosadmin user can
I think this was an innocent misunderstanding.
As IT folk we all know how things can get lost in translation, how text often doesn't convey proper tone of voice. I don't think Bandit meant any offense, he just says "Dude" a lot. Ludmil was agreeing with the feature request part of the post, although since he didn't quote that specific part I can understand why that might feel like an endorsement. I can assure you, we don't tolerate flaming on this board.
That being said, let's continue with the feature request. Should this be integrated into dashboards themselves as a part of XI, or as a modification of the deployment component? I tend to lean more towards putting this right into XI.

They cannot, they can only see their own. You didn't have any in your list because you only had the homepage dashboard.krobertson71 wrote:That makes sense, but then why can the default nagiosadmin account see all of them?
Again, it is a great feature to allow admins an additional panel to see other users items, and we are going to add it in.
I'll also add that this feature has come up a lot lately and I believe is why others are also passionate about it. It is moving up the list in the roadmap and will be added in a future release.

Re: Admins cannot see Dashboards - only Nagiosadmin user can
Already said this to Bandit in a private message.
Wanted to apologize for the , well nastyness of my comments.
No excuses, just bad couple of days and then dealing with this just kind of pushed up my stress level. I should have handeled it better.
We have decided we will just use a main account for dashboard deployment control.
Yes, please on the feature request. If for anything just management of what dashboards are deployed and maybe a way to see how often it is accessed might be a cool idea as well. Just thinking out loud.
Sorry it took me so long to respond. My wife has been in the hospital since Saturday and it's been a long few days.

Water under the bridge.
I'll put that request in first thing in the morning.

Hey guys, just thought of an addition to this feature request that I'd like to throw out there. Since its an internal one by Trevor I can't actually reply to it on the tracker, or was it a tracker one? regardless, here is my thought.....
Add a new user permission labeled "Dashboard Admin" that gives a "User" level person access to this new component or whatever is created from this request. An admin would of course get the permissions, but would be nice to designate others as dashboard admins without having to give admin access.

I added the suggestion to the existing task (feature request).

Re: Admins cannot see Dashboards - only Nagiosadmin user can
I give thumbs up to this whole thread.
Dashboards should be a global asset that one user can create and then be distributed by them or another user with Admin rights. If I have an eager beaver user (and I have a few) that have created some great dashboards, I want to be able to publish them out.
Or users should also be able to choose from a catalog of dashboards that have been made public by any user. Either way we skin this cat, the Dashboard functionality is overdue for some major enhancements.

Very good comments, hopefully this thread gets mentioned in the feature request. I'll keep the thread going...
