Nagvis info
Nagvis info
We are currently trying to setup several nagvis graphic views. Does anyone know if it is possible for Nagvis to pull data ( host , hostgroups ) from a remote nagios server ?

Re: Nagvis info
Hi btemple,
A couple of things to note:
1) nagvis isn't part of the NagiosXI commercial or even open source product line. You might get better information from the general support forums instead of the customer support forums as it would be viewed by a broader audience. Would you like me to move it?
2) It looks like there may be a feature request out there for this - again not with us but with the nagvis developers:

Re: Nagvis info
Thanks for the reply. I was wondering could I use Mod-Gearman to have the data sent from my remote to my main server and simply Chart the data in Nagvis once received ?

I don't know of any shortcomings in that architecture. It should work fine and achieve the goal of having "distributed nagvis" by way of just distributing the Nagios core component while still allowing nagvis to attach to only one Nagios instance.
Re: Nagvis info
Does anyone know of a good Mod-gearman guide. I understand how to install it but not sure how you config it.
Currently I have two separate Nagios instances. If I make one nagios server the worker and one nagios server the central manager
where are the host , services, and host groups defined ? DO I have to mirror the hosts and hostgroups on both servers but not define and
checks on the central server ?

Re: Nagvis info
I think the best guide is the one that comes right from the source:
https://labs.consol.de/nagios/mod-gearman/
With MG you don't need to have a full Nagios installation on each worker machine, just the worker and any relevant plugins. The check definitions still reside on whatever Nagios server is the master for all the workers.
