I am running Nagios XI 2014R2.6 and I have about 4 out of 75 SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11sp3 servers where I have three exact checks producing the same issue. They are reporting back NRPE: Unable to read output. I've installed the NRPE agent exactly the same on all 75 servers. The version of the NRPE agent is 2.15 and installed from http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ent.tar.gz following these directions http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... _Agent.pdf
All the other checks appear to be working except the three shown in the attached image. My permissions appear to be alright along with the sudoers file when compared to another system that is working.

Re: NRPE: Unable to read output
Have you tried running the commands directly on the monitored host to see what the output is?
Would it be possible to see the command definitions in the nrpe.cfg?
Thanks

Re: NRPE: Unable to read output
Have you tried running the commands directly on the monitored host to see what the output is? I suspect that the problem resides there. Generally when it's a communications issue the error indicated reflects something to indicate that.
Re: NRPE: Unable to read output
That was weird. I installed everything exactly the same and for whatever reason these machines did not have the same permissions for the libexec directory. I copied over that directory from known working machine and all is good.
