Linux 4/5 rsyslog alternitives for App logs

What are alternative ways without too much fuss to send application logs to Log Server? I found http://www.rsyslog.com/installing-rsysl ... -rhel-4-5/ but our Server admins are hesitant on installing it.

rsyslog and syslog-ng are currently syslog agents we support. Although you can use syslogd, see forum post:

You need to be aware of the limitations to udp port 514, which you should look at this doc here for listening protected ports under 1024 on NLS:
