No, the disk is plenty large. But the partition which the physical volume is on is not large enough. The machine which you say is fine has a size of 31,350,847 blocks on /dev/sda2. The machine you're currently trying to resize only has a /dev/sda2 partition size of 8,281,507 blocks. Please try going through the partition resizing steps of this document again (these are the steps involving fdisk).
