Is it possible to keep a contact from receiving Acknowledgement notifications yet receive all others?

At the time of the acknowledgement of the alert, from latest alerts or from mass acknowledgement,
If you do not want an acknowledgement notification sent out to the appropriate contacts, uncheck the 'Send Notification' checkbox.
I don't know if that answered your question. You mentioned a specific user, this option will suppress notification for an acknowledgement.

I have some users that get pages only and they do not wish to receive acknowledgement alerts only up, down, and recovery.

Each user can modify his/her notification preferences:

In Nagios XI Enterprise Edition, you can modify these preferences for individual users, set these changes as "default" for all users, lock notification messages and settings for the selected (non-administrative) users, etc.

Hope this helps.

Not currently, but should be possible in the future for XI Users. Please open a feature request at http://tracker.nagios.com. Link it back here when you have done so.

This functionality doesn't exist in Nagios XI or Core for that matter. However, it is possible to add "Host Acknowledgement" and "Service Acknowledgement" check-boxes under the "Notification Preferences". This way, each user can enable or disable them. I already posted an internal feature request about adding this functionality (TASK ID 5417).
Note: I would like to point out that sending acknowledgments totally depends on the user who acknowledges the issue. If he/she unchecks the "Send Notification" check-box, the ack notification won't be sent.

lmitchev I completely agree with you. Bu the issue is two fold:

1) There are some servers where we have multiple parties that support the services. Our NOC should always get acknowledgement notifications but other folks who don't care or probably don't need those alerts see it as spam. So I was asked to find a solution.
2) I have told my users to uncheck the Send Notification check-box. But they fail and they fail often or have an expectation that they should be sent out.

As far as acknowledgment notification goes, this is actually included in our latest development build - this was built due to the feature request abrist opened:

This functionality is definitely 'in the pipe'. I'll talk to a developer about getting the necessary files to you to enable this feature.
