Any reason to not upgrade to latest kernel ? Already on NagiosXI 2.7
yum -y update kernel
Any else have any experiences to share updating centos ??
CentOS Kernel update
Re: CentOS Kernel update
Kernel updates should be safe, though sometimes the headers change enough where building other software requires you to update the devel packages for them.
But we have not heard any reports of kernel upgrade issues as of late.
EDIT: As usual though, trying it in a test environment first is always suggested.

Re: CentOS Kernel update
good comment we have no test env but is vm so can snapshot first which is our standard with updates, I snaphot before nagiosxi updates until it doesn't collapse then remove snap as affects performance (false readings etc)
Re: CentOS Kernel update
Sounds good, sharding! In the future, you may want to set up a test server. Each Nagios XI license is approved for up to three installations: one primary monitoring/production, one backup/failover, and one test environment. As long as you are only using one install for production monitoring, you are within the boundaries of our licensing policy.
