OK: No data received yet. Status Information from passive

Post by skynardo »

Running Nagios XI 2014R2.5 and have been rolling out NRDS and passive service checks to our RHEL machines over the last few weeks. I noticed today that some of these hosts intermittently show OK: No data received yet for Status Information in the Service Detail page. I am using a template with interval 5 min, retry 5 min and max retries 2 and my nrds.sh cron interval is 5 min. It seems like the Status is being changed to "OK: No data recieved yet" 2-3 minutes after the last check time, and unfortunately if the service was in a soft state 1/2 failures, this Status change resets the state to OK (even though it is not). Can someone tell me what might be causing this or how to troubleshoot it?

Do you have freshness checking enabled for those hosts? If so, what is the active check set to?

No, Check freshness is set to skip in my templates. I noticed that the services in question are not showing the "Passive Only Check" icons in the UI and are in the last group that I rolled out checks to. I manually deleted one of the services/hosts then reran my create/import script and it now shas the passive check icon and seems to be updating normally every 5 min. I'm not sure how these got into this state but I am going to delete/redo them and see how that goes.

Deleting and recreating the hosts/service objects that were having this problem fixed this issue. I am guessing there was user error involved when creating these the first time around.

Glad to hear that resolved it for you, is it ok if we mark this as resolved and lock the topic?
