Updated switch port lables - doesn't display historical port

Post by jlmoldan »

Kind of random, but my networking team wanted to give switch ports accurate/meaningful names now that they are displayed for everyone to see them via Nagios. So, after they re-labled the ports I ran the Network Switch / Router Monitoring Wizard against the switch again which picked up the 30 or so new port names.

But I'm noticing that the old port info/via old name is still displaying (no problem to clean those out), but the new port names don't display hisorical data on the specific ports that changed. It appears that the new and old "portname" reference the same RRD - but for charting purposes, are these values stored somewhere else that need to be merged before i purge the old portnames out?

Thanks for any insight.

Here is a link to a document that you can use to help you in changing the port labels for the Switch / Router wizard.

To merge the existing performance data into the new rrd files you can use this tool I created called the Performance Data Tool.

http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Ad ... ol/details

Upload it into Nagios XI via Admin > System Extensions > Manage Components.
Access it via the Tools menu.
As of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.
