Odd ping response
Odd ping response
I've been troubleshooting a ping issue where on the occasion the client server responds back with an odd response. I've never seen this before and I can't seem to find any info on the web about it... This pattern doesn't happen often but when it does we get a host down from nagios. See screen shot below. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

DUP! seems to indicate Duplicate and Damaged Packets.

Is it just one host?
Does the error occur when you try to ping it from another linux server (not the XI Server)?

It is just one host that I know of.

Notice the consistent but different rtts. I bet you have a similar IP segment somewhere else on your network and some NATting or routing issues getting you to the same place twice, and even worse the "2 same places" are both finding their way back.
