Service account privileges for ESX monitoring

Post by maddev »

Hi,

I am trying to monitor ESX through vmware wizard in XI; not sure of the privileges the service account should have.
For ESX host monitoring what are the privileges that the service account should have? what are the privileges for ESX guest monitoring?

The user should have read-only access for both.

few things led to change of mind of my management on ESX monitoring; SNMP monitoring of ESX is being recommended now. I am not sure how to monitor the hosts using SNMP. anyguidance on this will help.

Regarding SNMP, have you set up SNMP on the vCenter/ESX side of things?

The following plugin is highly recommended for monitoring VMWare, if you're looking for options: https://exchange.nagios.org/directory/P ... re/details

Thank you jolson. box293 plugin seems to be great. I have configured the environment with that plugin. Have posted a separate query on a issue I am facing with that.

Thank you for the support.
