How do I backup my nagios server

Post by alexny »

I have Nagios core running on a stand alone both, running on Ubuntu. How do I backup the server using CLI. Also how can I create an OVF file of this server so I can move it to a virtual environment?
Thank you for your help.

Depends on how complicated your install is. For a basic install the only thing you need to back up are all the cfg files, nagios.cfg and all the files defined within. If you've added custom plugins you'll need those. If you've added other add-ons such as ndo, pnp4nagios, etc there are countless other things that may need to be backed up.

Totally outside of the scope of this forum, however we'll try.

VMware converter is the easy way. Point and click. The hard way is documented elsewhere, here is one source that appears valid to me: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/tr-doj ... x-machine/
