On the Tacticle Monitoring Overview screen, when I click on the red 2 Unhandled Problems I get redirected to a page with no hosts. I need to click the flashing 2 in the unhandled box before I get to see the critical items.
The difference I notice on screenshot 2 is that at the top left of the screen is says:
Host Status
Hostgroup: all
On screenshot 3 it says:
Host Status
All hosts
Any ideas what is causing this problem?
I am using 2009R1.1H and the problem occurs with both IE and Firefox.

Re: Bug in Tacticle Overview screen
There seems to be a problem with the number of services /host - selection. If i choose 5,10,15,25 to be shown at once all looks good. If i choose 50 or 100 there are no services / hosts shown (And yes i have more than 100 services).
You can change the number of services shown at once from 100 to 25, this fixes that bug for me.

Re: Bug in Tacticle Overview screen
On these forms I fell bombarded with images that some of the time don't provide a tone in the way of data compared to the space they take up. I feel they vary much get in the way of and distract attention away from any helpful information.
It would be grand if ppl could limit the size of there images to a max of 854x480(16:9) I.E. 640x480(4:3). Preferred size would be 320x200, but you don't need to do anything crazy like 4 or 16 colors. Fell free to use true-color and transparent images.

Re: Bug in Tacticle Overview screen
It would be wonderful if you could include URLs instead of images. However I'm aware that our JavaScript would vary much prevent this from being easy.
This is most likely a case were a URL is generated incorrectly. I think from the provided information we souled be able to locate the two URLs, however It's not clear which one would need to be changed.
From what I know of Nagios I'd say screenshot 2 is incorrect and needs to be more like SS1.
Host Status
Hostgroup: all
This would indicate we would only show hosts that are in this host group. Don't let the name fool you, it's not special and could be changed from it's designed behavior... or even removed.
This host group should have one member "members" being "*", without the quotes.

Re: Bug in Tacticle Overview screen
I'm sorry if there are too many screenshots, I'll try and follow these "new guidelines" in the future. To help other people in the future perhaps you should publish a locked thread outlining the guidelines on how we should post topics / submit problems / bugs.
My previous experience in theses forums (from mine and reading other people's posts), is that you need to provide enough information to get a helpful response. I thought that screenshots highlighting the areas on the screen along with instructions to reproduce the problem would provide you with all the information you need to reproduce the problem. It sounds like I am now providing too much relevant information ... I didn't think this was possible
Let me explain the problem again so that you fully understand what I am reporting.
In screenshot 1 http://nagios/nagiosxi/includes/compone ... ui/tac.php
This is the tactical overview screen
Under Hosts it shows in red "2 Unhandled Problems"
I click on the words "2 Unhandled Problems" http://nagios/nagiosxi/includes/compone ... ostattr=42
I am redirected to screenshot 2
In screenshot 2
I am looking at a screen with no red objects <----- This is the problem
I would have thought that by clicking on the words "2 Unhandled Problems" in the previous screen, it would have taken me to a screen with these problems.
I need to click the flashing 2 in the unhandled box http://nagios/nagiosxi/includes/compone ... ostattr=10, this redirects me to screenshot 3
In screenshot 3
Yay, here are the problem hosts but why did I need to go through the other screen to get here?
I should never need to click something additional on screenshot 2 to see the problem hosts.
Please let me know if you understand or if you need any additional information.

Re: Bug in Tacticle Overview screen
Thanks for this tip however this does not resovle the problem for me. No matter what option I choose and click the Go button I still get a screen saying "No matching host found".bonline wrote:You can change the number of services shown at once from 100 to 25, this fixes that bug for me.

Re: Bug in Tacticle Overview screen
Notice how when comparing these URLs it's obvious what the problem is, take a look at them side by side:
Broken/Working
http://nagios/nagiosxi/includes/compone ... ostattr=42
http://nagios/nagiosxi/includes/compone ... ostattr=10
This is as I expected the "hostgroup=all" is what is causing the difference you pointed out and the problem you reported. Make sure this hostgroup is configured as I indicated previously and you should be fine. I will see what I can do to clean up URLs in following releases.
As for screen shots, all I was indicating is that pictures are worth a thousand words, but they don't need to be 1600x1200 and fill up several pages. You could get the same effect if the image was more manageable. As for the content they provide in this case I knew all I needed to see was the URLs, in most cases it should be sufficient to say what you said:
Tactical Monitoring Overview screen -> click the flashing 2 in the unhandled box.
I'm not sure how others feel, but it's vary true that too much impertinent information can vary much distract from the simplest of solutions, as I was going to St. Ives.

Re: Bug in Tacticle Overview screen
I am having trouble finding the Host Group "all". Am I looking in the right location?
This screenshot is taken from a freshly deployed Nagios XI 2009R1.1H VM.
The Host Group "all" does not exist in the VM I have in production, nor in the freshly deployed VM.

Re: Bug in Tacticle Overview screen
You will need to create it if it does not exist, that is the bug you reported.

Re: Bug in Tacticle Overview screen
Creating a Host Group called "all" fixed the problem.
On the tactical overview screen, when I click on the words "2 Unhandled Problems" it correctly displays the critical hosts.
Thanks for helping me get to the bottom of this.
