nagiosxi check logfile for unix
Re: nagiosxi check logfile for unix
My company is happy to help you set up Nagios Log Server if you want. It's a great product and we use it extensively ourselves.

Re: nagiosxi check logfile for unix
I can't tell if I should edit my previous post or post a new one, so I am posting a new one.
The nice thing about the Nagios Log Server is that you can have it look for things over time, and alert through Nagios if it finds something. Those alerts can search the same log file(s) from one or more machine(s) for one or more events, so all you have to do is figure out what you want to find and how many times it occurs within what time period to be considered a problem, and then you can send the alert over to Nagios to have it use your existing notifications.
Plus the dashboard and query-over-time capabilities give you some powerful ways to visualize your data and the responses as well. For a quick demo of some screenshots, you can check out my Asterisk log file dashboard at https://exchange.nagios.org/directory/A ... er/details.

Re: nagiosxi check logfile for unix
Hi saax,
We have already purchase XI subscription and setup in production environment. At this moment, we just want to set up nagios for monitoring all windows and UNIX platform smoothly. We will consider nagios log server if we have project for setup log server.

Re: nagiosxi check logfile for unix
Then you will likely need to roll your own home-grown check to be able to look for multiple problems since the last time the log file was analyzed. Nagios is really good at looking for one thing, but not so good when looking for many things and being able to keep them separate (as opposed to treating them as a single group).
We can help with that, too, if you desire.
