Recurring Downtime Schedule

Post by jkinning »

I am trying to create a downtown schedule for a specific Hostgroup that happens the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 16:20 - 20:40. I see where and how to create the scheduled downtime I just am not sure how to mark it as the 2nd and 4th Saturday. Will I need to do do this every Month and specify dates?

Doing what you want may not be easily possible but you could try this.
Setup your time, months and just select Saturday. Then select the valid days of the month that could fall on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.
This might miss some but it may work for you.

Yes - this is what I did - you just need to work out what days of the month will be valid for that date.
As an example,
1st Friday of month - select Friday and add the following Range to Valid Days of Month - " 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 "
2nd Saturday of month - select Saturday and add the following Range to Valid Days of Month - " 8,9,10,11,12,13,14 "

So I would need to set this up each month or no?

I will key in my Hostgroup and Select the Services to Include all services in this hostgroup, add some comments. Start time will be 16:40 and Duration 260. I selected Valid Weekdays of Sat and Valid Days of Month is 13,27.

If I would go through the rest of the year, next month for instance, could I also include 11,25 so my Valid Days of Month would read 13,27,11,25 and Nagios would know how to handle that and wouldn't send out any notifications during this date/time period?

You could setup the whole year if you select every month in the schedule and set this as the valid days.

Code: Select all

 8,9,10,11,12,13,14,22,23,24,25,26,27,28
Those days should cover the second and fourth Saturday's of any month.

So you just picked all the possible dates that would fall on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the months this year? Trying to figure out how you compiled those numbers for other hostgroups I have and their Maintenance windows, like the 3rd Sunday of each month.
