Layer 2 Analysis

Post by mikew »

Arista switches use sflow and I have found information on setting up the Arista switches with sflow:

sflow source 10.0.0.250
sflow destination 10.0.0.50
sflow polling-interval 20
sflow rate 20000
sflow run

But I have run into a situation where an organization is only using Layer 2. If you had Arista switches only operating on Layer 2 (evaluating MAC addresses only) can you get NNA to work with that? Basically you do not have any routing....

NNA can not analyze layer two frames. I would give the switch a try though, as it may do some sort of ARP translation for the sake of netflow information.

Thanks....I figured it would be an issue. I will see if we can do something with ARP.
