Hi Everybody !!!!
Today we had a issue with a server, it was alerted from 2015-06-17 05:15:56 to 2015-06-17 05:16:54
In the message log of the monitoring server we have this:
Jun 14 05:15:50 XXXXXXXXXXX xinetd[2572]: EXIT: nrpe status=0 pid=33874 duration=0(sec)
Jun 14 05:15:51 XXXXXXXXXXX ReportAgent: ERROR: Failed to read ssl parameters.
Jun 14 05:15:53 XXXXXXXXXXX ReportAgent: ERROR: Failed to read ssl parameters.
Jun 14 05:16:26 XXXXXXXXXXX xinetd[2572]: START: nrpe pid=33902 from=::ffff:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX

Jun 14 05:16:39 XXXXXXXXXXX xinetd[2572]: START: nrpe pid=33926 from=::ffff:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
How can i understand this if the administrator reports that the server never was down ?
Thanks for your support !!!!

Re: ERROR: Failed to read ssl parameters.
What was the issue with the server that Nagios reported? Did all NRPE checks stop working?
As of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.

Thanks for your response !!!!
Your question:
"What was the issue with the server that Nagios reported? Did all NRPE checks stop working?"
No, the others NRPE checks was working good.
The issue reported was a "check-host-alive".
Is important share you that the alerted host has two network cards configurated, and that in the another one no errors was reported.

Re: ERROR: Failed to read ssl parameters.
I do not think that the ssl error is related to check-host-alive, as check-host-alive is usually an icmp check (not usually performed through nrpe). Could the interface that was checked have gone down for a few minutes?
