When trying to add a dashlet to the dashboard, I am able to see the added fused server but I am not able to get any servicesgroups / hostgroups etc to show up. I can select the server but seems like it cannot access any of the hosts/services.

XI version is 2014R2.6 and Fusion is 2014R1.0

I have recorded a tcpdump between my fusion server and test XI server. My test XI server is running R1.7 has https enabled.
1.1 is my Fusion server, and 2.2 is my XI server. Of course, most of the data is encrypted - but what we want to determine here is whether or not your XI box is replying to your Fusion box.
Could you post a tcpdump of the same so that we could compare?

Sorry for the delay. Here's the TCPdump of Fusion when I am logged in and trying to look at adding dashlets etc. There's communication, but hostgroups etc, doesn't populate. I cannot even get the fused status summary to show up - just get all 0s.

I think there is a bug where the auth shows as ok when it's really not.
In Fusion, go to Configure > Servers > Manage Fused Server Credentials
- Retype the username and password for your XI server that is not working and click update settings.
Now try it again and let us know the results.

Recreating doesn't seem to work. We are using LDAP authentication, so I am using my LDAP credentials to log in and using my LDAP credentials for the fused server credentials.
So as a test, I used a local account for fused server credentials and it worked. However the LDAP credentials aren't working. This is by-design?

I was able to get it to work one time then it kept failing, it should work so I've created a bug report for it:
