Nagios Support,
Good morning.
We would just like to inquire if we can set dependent monitoring with another monitoring service.
Here is the scenario with our network.
There was a network outage with our site where the Nagios server resides. The Nagios network was isolated from other networks where most of the monitored services located.
So in Nagios point of view, the machines from another network was unreachable or host down, but in real case, the network link between them was just down.
So the question is, it is possible to conduct a network service check then if that network was down, temporarily disable the other service checks?
It was like dependent service checks.
And if it was possible to conduct dependent checks, what are the procedures in setting these checks?
Thank you very much and have a nice day.
Dependent Service Monitoring
Re: Dependent Service Monitoring
I would look into Parent/Child relationships as they pertain to host reachability:

Just be sure to exclude "u" or "unreachable" from your notification states.

Re: Dependent Service Monitoring
Nagios Support,
Does the Nagios XI has a wizard or configuration manager to configure the host dependency except for using Nagios Core Config manager?
It seems that the solution you provided can only be configured manually by creating a new host definition file.
Thanks.

Nagios Support,
We also like to request for the procedure in configuring host dependency by using Nagios Core Config Manager.

Re: Dependent Service Monitoring
You can configure host and service dependencies in Nagios Core Config Manager by going to:
Configure->Core Configuration Manager->Advanced->Host Dependencies->Add New
and
Configure->Core Configuration Manager->Advanced->Service Dependencies->Add New
Configure->Core Configuration Manager->Advanced->Host Dependencies->Add New
and
Configure->Core Configuration Manager->Advanced->Service Dependencies->Add New
