Some hosts not showing up in state history report

Post by snapon_admin »

For some reason all of our windows hosts are not showing up in our state history report. It looks like pretty much everything else is, but not the windows hosts. Here's an example:

That particular host was critical for 20 minutes, but that is not reflected in the state history report at all. Why?

It looks like you searched for the word critical in the top right corner and because the status information on that service does not have the word critical, it will not list it.

Please clear out the word critical out of the search bar and then click update and it should show then.

Ah, so that filter doesn't take the "State" column into effect then? Is there a better way to view the state history but ONLY show criticals? We run a daily report of all the things that went critical throughout the day and this is the only way we have to check that, but if filtering for 'critical' doesn't work then that report is inaccurate.

Correct, it doesn't seem to include the state column. What version of XI are you running? I may be able to whip something up quick for you.

I would recommend upgrading to the latest. You can filter by "State" in 2014R2.7. I believe, this was introduced in 2.6:
- Update Search in State History and top Alert Producers report to target Host Name, Service Description and output -SW

Unfortunately upgrading to 2014R2.7 will not include that feature, it's because lmiltchev had the warning text in the information column as well.

I'm unable to provide a solution at this time, I got close but I'm unable to get it to work perfectly without substantial underlying code modifications.

I've created a feature request for it:

Code: Select all

NEW TASK ID 5970 created - Nagios XI Feature Request: State History Report - Add ability to search/filter by State (warning, critical, etc)
