Licensing question

Post by chris.trotter »

We're going to be purchasing XI Unlimited. I just had a question on how the active/DR/test licensing works. Is it straightforward to set up the three stations? Just a different license key? Honour system?

I guess what I'm really asking is: What restrictions are in place for the backup- and DR-licensed boxes?

I already have a test box online (hostname test-nagios-etc), and we'll be doing an active/standby setup for the production unit (i.e. standby monitors the active, takes over when conditions met). Both active/standby will have the exact same config, if that makes any difference.

You get one license key and that license key is good for three activations, a development box, and test box and production box. Without getting into the nitty gritty details of our licensing, If any of those go down and you will be able to reinstall Nagios XI on that box provided the IP address is the same. If it is not Nagios XI will count that as another activations and if you go over three total installs you'll need to contact sales to get more activations.
