Missing 'service selection' in Capacity Planning report

Post by tonyleatwork »

Hi -

In the doc: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... anning.pdf it mentions that you can perform service selection in capacity planning but in my own version, that button/link is missing:

The Capacity Planning Report Core Component version is:

Version: 2.1.8 Date: 12/29/2014 Author: Nagios Enterprises, LLC

The bad news is it looks like version 2.1.8 of Capacity Planning presents the 'host' selector. The good news is that in our next version of XI, in addition to the host selector, we are including a hostgroup selector and a servicegroup selector.

Hi -

Do you have a timeline on that next version?

We're trying to do capacity planning so we would appreciate a way (any way you can think of) to have all of the charts for a particular service in one view. If you can propose an alternative method, I'd greatly appreciate it.

There is no exact timeline, but I wouldn't expect the new version of XI for at least a month or two.

I can't think of a great way to accomplish what you're trying to do with Capacity Planning graphs. There are certainly ways to concatenate services using *regular* charts, but as far as Capacity Planning is concerned it's my understanding that we'll have to wait for that new release. Either that, or add the graphs you're interested in to a dashboard:

Thanks. I was hoping to avoid the Dashboard since the performance isn't ideal for 500+ servers * 4 services we need to look at.

No problem. Is there anything else I could help you out with?

Nope - if you guys could implement a feature that could aggregate all graphs of the same name, that'd be great!
