I'm sure that's true. However keep in mind that names in Nagios and hostnames need not be the same, in fact Nagios specifically has set aside the "Alias" setting to contain the hostname and the FQDN as well as any other names the server is known. So the solution presented is effective regardless of what you'd use for hostnames.
