Check by SSH capability

Post by job4ankit »

Hi Everyone

I am very new to Nagios and would like to know what we can do with check by ssh capability of Nagios.

We have outsource our production environment and we don't have root or application user access. But we have our personal login to log on to production systems. We dont have all the ports open either but ssh is working.

I would like to make use of this access and setup monitoring as much as I could.

Thank you in advance.

Regards

Hello Ankit,

We have a document regarding monitoring using SSH. This is also another article, not from us, that I found describing this. Not having root/sudo access on the remote systems might complicate these steps a bit, though.

I know this has been answered, but I wanted to make an offer to help. We've done extensive checks by wrapping in check_by_ssh, sometimes combined with sudo access on the remote machine. If you don't have proper access to monitor the application or server parameters, your mileage will be limited, but we can help. PM me if you are interested, or even better, come find me 2:30 next Tuesday at Nagios World Conference 2015 when I present "Fractal Nagios."
