check_period, notification_period, & repeat notification

Post by lyle »

Say that a service has check_period set to 24X7, but the notification_period is 8AM through 6PM. If the service check has a hard error at night, and it stays hard, will notifications go out at 8AM? Seems like I've asked this before, sorry. I seem to remember that there has to be a state change after 8am for a notification to go out.

If that is the case, I'm not sure why I'd want the check_period to be anything other than equal to the notification_period. In the case above, I guess I could go back to see what time at night the error really occurred, but would lose being alerted at 8am.

And If a hard error state persists, notifications are sent out at every notification_interval unless the check is acknowledged, correct?
This is what the Core docs say under "Notifications", but just wanted to be sure.

Thanks...Lyle
