Physical server recommendations

Post by fpernet »

I've been asked to setup a Nagios XI from the tarball on a clean physical server.
I'll install a RedHat RHEL 6 32 bits (since it seems that 64 bits is not recommended ??)

I would need to know if there are any other recommendations...

More especially:
- 64 bits still not recommended ?
- Partitioning : i really need to know how i would need to parition carefully with LVM maybe...
- RAM size
- Disque size
- CPU

Many thanks in advance

I don't remember seeing anywhere that "64 bits is not recommended", but if you have, please, let me know so I can fix/update the info.

For the supported distributions, please, check this link:

http://support.nagios.com/wiki/index.ph ... tributions

- 64-bit is suppored
- Partitioning: you can use LVM if you want to; the only thing that you should be watching for is to use a large enough partition, so you are not going to run out of space
- RAM, Disk Size, CPU: check this link:

http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... quirements

These values can vary, depending on your nagios setup (number of hosts/services you want to monitor).

Hope this helps.
