Nagios - NagVis Error

Post by phillip.boyce »

CentOS 6
VMWare Install NagiosXI (latest ver)

When I go to view maps inside of Nagios they all come up fine and work great, except for NagVis. I'm getting this error (see picture). Can someone enlighten me? I've searched the forums, both here and NagVis and I haven't come across a solution or maybe I missed it. What file is this error referencing? What should I be looking at?

This is probably a mistake in making the VM. I'll look into it and get back to you with a solution and try to have it fixed for the next VM image.

agriffin,

I have a confession to make. I upgrade my NagVis to the latest version (1.6). Believe it or not, NagVis did work after the upgrade. I was going through and making changes in the new config files and after that I received the error.

So, my first question, in the screenshot I posted, what exactly is that saying in nagios-speak?

Secondly, it's interesting that I can click on every other map and it works fine but as soon as I click on NagVis it brings up that error. Do you think there is something messed up in a config file somewhere? Can I downgrade to the 1.5 version of NagVis?

Thanks for the help.

Okay, well I don't think it's an issue with the VM actually. I don't know what that error message means. Can you look to see if there are any NagVis errors in Apache's log file? It should be located at /var/log/httpd/error_log.

Otherwise, I'm not sure how to downgrade. What steps did you take to upgrade in the first place?

agriffin,

You are the man. I checked out the error_log as you suggested (see attachment) and I think this is what's causing my problem. I'm very new to CentOS but have learned a lot in the past few weeks. Obviously a path is messed up somewhere. Can you take a look at the attachment and tell me what file to edit to point to the correct nagvis files?

What steps did you take to upgrade? Those paths should be there unless you changed something, and either way I need to know in order to figure out how you should change your configuration or installation.

I simply downloaded the latest release of NagVis (1.6) from their site and put it in my /tmp dir. I then followed the instructions to untar it, chmod +x, read the README and ran the install. After that it broke. Any help would be appreciated my friend.
