Nagios XI 5 - Birdseye

Post by WillemDH »

The Birdseye view seems it seems the "Hide handled" option is not saved. It takes 18 seconds to load the page, during which it spawns a php process, which eats 99% of a cpu. When I select 'Hide handled' it takes another 22 seconds to hide all the acknowledged problems.
As we are not interested in viewing all acknowledged problems (as it pollutes the view with known problems and makes it very unusable) this option should really be savable. As we need to click on a problem in order to make an support ticket for it, this means we have to go back to the Birdseye view, resulting in another 18 sec + 22 sec load time. It seems to me the other views, such as open service problems load instantly, so why does the Birdseye view needs such huge load times? Once it is loaded, new problems are arriving almost instantly, which is really nice.
The above problems imply we also cannot use the Birdseye view in a rotating view.

Are you familiar with any of the developer tools in the browser? If so, can you open up the Network tab and see what page calls are taking the longest? If not, let us know and we can write up a short guide.

Sure,

I attached two screenshot. The one ending in _1 is the first time I click on the Birdseye view. The other ending in _2 is the loading of the Bridseye view after I click 'Hide handled'.
Also I noticed that when I leave the Birdseye view, the browser seems to hang sometimes for 3-10 seconds.

Hope it helps.

Maybe a longshot, but I had a similar issue recently where the Program URL under Admin -> System Settings was set to the External URL, which caused the AJAX calls to time out. Can you post those values and confirm whether they are correct?

I think it may have to do with the number of checks that you have (14K).

How long does your state history report take to come up?

It essentially reads the state history for all hosts and servers AND the host and service status.
