Post by bennyboy »

Hi,

I'm pretty new in Nagios XI. Can you help me to troubleshoot that please.

Could you please provide more information? What Nagios XI version is this, and what OS+version is it on? How large of a range are you scanning?

When you say it never ends or starts, that doesn't make sense. Does it randomly not start, and when it does start it doesn't end?

The lastest version of Nagios just install yesterday. I use RHEL 7.1. I setup auto-discovery to scan 172.26.14.0/24 +- 254Ips.

Can you run the scan from command line? Log into the server and type -

Code: Select all

nmap -sn 172.26.14.0/24
Additionally, do you have any firewall or antivirus in place that would stop a port scan?

What options did you choose for the scan? Things like OS Detection will slow down the results, and if many of your remote machines are actively blocking pings, it will take longer.

Can you help me to troubleshoot please. I don't think scanning 254 IP with nmap can take 12 hour. I search for log file and details about auto-discovery. Can you help.

I keep the default advanced setting.

This report looks like it is set to a scheduled time of 9:00PM on Sunday - it will not run until that time.

If you'd like to run one right now, then select New Auto-Discovery Job with a scan target of '172.26.14.0/24', and schedule of 'One Time'.

Ok I understand. I think the status is running because of the picture. Thank you for your help.
