Offline Upgrade

Post by CFT6Server »

Servers in our environment is not allowed to go out to the internet. Is there any offline upgrade options from XI 2014R2.6 to XI 5? I would like to start testing this out.
I usually update the upgrade script, but I noticed that it goes through the wizards and a lot of them runs yum installs. Offline option and a list of packages would really help.

Thanks.

We have offline RPMs available at http://repo.nagios.com/. How was XI originally installed?

Our XI was deployed using the OVA so there are a number of dependencies that the script and wizards need. So basically right now I am going through each wizard and modifying the install.sh to comment out the yum installs and completing those manually.

Try this in a test environment.
1. Install Nagios XI 2014R2.6 on a new server using the http://repo.nagios.com/.
2. Backup your original XI instance and move the backup to the new server.
3. Restore XI from the backup you just moved.
4. Upgrade XI to 5.2.0 using the http://repo.nagios.com/.

Note: I believe this should work, even though I am not 100% sure as I haven't tested it. The offline RPM installer is still considered as "beta".
