Have you tried this with different browsers? This is very unusual, especially with your low amount of checks and high amount of resources.

Yes multiple browsers, Safari, Firefox, Chrome

Honestly, I would have to guess this has to do with how you have your apache config setup and not nagios proper, does your auth reach out to another server? Can you post your apache config file for nagios?
