Hi,
We are using the Nagios XI appliance with version 5.2.1. We have deleted 2 hosts, and its services, but we're still receiving emails regarding these hosts and services. According to the CCM everything is deleted regarding these hosts and services. How can we permanently get rid of these messages?
Thanks

Did you make sure to click Apply Configuration after?

Yep, applied configuration several times. Also restarted MySQL/Postgresql/Nagios/NagiosXI/httpd services. Just to clarify, I removed the services, as well as the hosts from the CCM, so they've disappeared from the CCM. However, when I search for the specific host/services I can still find them. And also alerts are still being emailed as well.
Re: Remove zombie host/service
Most often this is due to multiple parent nagios processes. Check how many you have with ps -ef | grep bin/nagios and post the results.

Thanks for your spot-on answer! I could see there were multiple processen, and ended up with hundreds of false service warning last night. After a reboot of the server all errors, and double processes were gone.tmcdonald wrote:Most often this is due to multiple parent nagios processes. Re: Remove zombie host/service
Today I had the same situation again. After shutting down Nagios/NagiosXI, I also had to killall remaining nagios processes. After this I could start Nagios again.
Question: What could cause this problem, i.e. running multiple instances of Nagios server?

You could place it on a dropbox and provide us with the link.
