Can Nagios client relay other servers?

Post by VinceVDC »

Our paranoid network team will only allow a single host at our offsite server farm to communicate with our Nagios XI server.

The tool we are replacing relies on a relay built into their client to perform this task, is there something similar for nagios? Does nagios require a localized install that then aggregates its findings to the "Main" server?

If there's a howto I could be pointed to I'd be a happy camper!

Thanks!

Yeah, you can definitely setup an instance of Nagios XI (or Nagios Core) in the server farm network/area and the forward all of those checks to your central Nagios XI. Its actually really simple in Nagios XI, just go to:

Admin > Check Transfers > Outbound Transfers , then tell it which protocol you want to use and where to send the checks. Then in your master Nagios XI instance, tell it who its going to sending checks and voila, its going to start receiving those checks.
