Xymon map for Nagios

Post by smasson »

Hi there a way to create a kind of Xymon (old Big Brother bbdisplay) map with Nagios.

https://www.xymon.com/

The idea is the group services (filter view of nagios bbmap) and that map as a status on the map. Should be flexible enough to have map of maps/services.

Look at the link I put in the post as a demo of my requirement.

We actually have the BBMap for just this purpose! Go to Home -> BBMap and you're there. We've had previous BB clients who said this was exactly what they wanted, so let us know!

I do not think BBMap is equivalent to BigBrother / Xymon BBDisplay.

1) The component is dynamic and you only have the filter selection at the top to create kind of dynamic map
2) there is no concept of config file that you have create a map, like you can do with nagvis. Like a status dot (color) for a bbmap filtered with a service group
3) You cannot create multiple type of map and map of maps or group and group of groups in the display.

Thanks

If you can provide a screenshot we can help you better. The website you linked just seemed to have an index/legend explaining what the icons mean, so if there is a specific page you had in mind please let us know.

Ok, let say you go on the example page : https://www.xymon.com/

Check on the attachment, you will see,
2015-11-16_21-49-56.png
1) On the main map, there is a DOT (status) that show status on the submap Other System
2) That submap (Other System), there is another DOT (status) that give an aggregate status of the map under called (Henrik Scheel)

All this is manual configuration using the configuration file so you can group all kind of service together under a group (like service group).

At the end, you can do the same kind of thing on nagvis when you put a map as an icon the a map, etc.. but nagvis is long to configure and setup. If I can get a quick view like bbmap but with flexibility that will be nice.

Thanks

I believe what you're trying to do still, can be done with BBMap. By using host groups, you can narrow down your results, and even further with service groups.

As for clicking from one page -> another, you could set it up yourself with links relative to specific service groups. The links are interchangeable just as in Xymon. An example is below -

I have attached a screenshot for more reference, on what BBMap can do.
