How's NCPA going?

Post by reinaldo.gomes »

So, I originally came here willing to ask whether there was any plans to make wizards using check_nrpe, since check_nt is more limited and oficially deprecated. But then I stumbled across a topic where "lmiltchev" stated that: "I am not sure when/if we are going to replace "check_nt" checks with "check_nrpe" checks in the wizard as we re are gradually moving away from nsclient++. We decided to focus on our own agent - NCPA". And then my question changed.

Even though I've been using Nagios for 1 and a half year, I had never heard of it. So I went to check it out at Nagios exchange, but the project seems to be stale (Last Release Date2014-08-26). Is the project dead? Is it still worth moving from and already settled up NSClient infrastructure

At this point I would not recommend that you move away from NSClient. Aside from XI feature requests, NCPA updates are one of our most popular requests. Development on it is kind of at a standstill, I can't speak for the developers, but I wouldn't imagine that it'll stay stale forever. The project IS open source if anyone wants to do a pull request on it, or make changes. Like I said though, I would stick with NSClient for now.

I see. Thanks for the feedback anyway. The topic may be closed now.
