Create Service Groups

Hi,

Is there a way to create service groups that included services that are assigned to a host by being a member of a host group? When I try to create a service group, it only gives me the option to use services assigned directly to a host or other service groups.

What I am trying to do is to create a group that includes a subset of services of servers. I was hoping to be able to put application checks in maintenance mode while regular health checks continued to run and send out alerts.

I am running XI 5.2.0.

Essentially, this is what the documentation says should be able to be done, but I've had a ticket open on this subject for a year. So far, no luck.

Thanks for the info. It would make sense to be able to do that. I had to work around this by putting all services in to maintenance mode then using the bulk removal tool to remove specific checks.

Anyone from Nagios know how this can be an added feature?

I don't believe this is currently possible, no. This would be a Core thing, and our new(ish) Core dev is pretty on top of things. The best place to put this in would be the Github page:

You can enter one yourself or I would be happy to do so on your behalf.

However, this would be quite a significant change to the verification and checking logic, so I can't imagine it would be added any time soon.

Hopefully this is something that can be added in the future. Most of our checks are assigned to host groups. It just makes adding new servers easier.
