Is there a batch way to change a Parent of a Service given X number of Services you need to change?
Process I'm doing is
Copying existing host
rename host
copy exist services for a host
rename copied services to new hostname
change parent of all services
Seems like there should be a better way.
Changing Parent of a Service
Re: Changing Parent of a Service
When you say "Parent", do you mean the "Host" this service is added to? Are you trying to clone an existing host alone with its services to a new one (or multiple similar hosts)? Do you want to rename the host and its services, or you just want to change the config name? Can you elaborate and show us some configs (before & after)? Is there a batch way to change a Parent of a Service given X number of Services you need to change?
In any case, all of the above could be done via the "Bulk Host Cloning and Import" wizard, "Bulk Modifications" tool and/or "Renaming Tool". The latter two ship with Nagios XI Enterprise Edition. If you haven't purchased Enterprise, you can start free, fully functional 60-day trial and get the job done.
