Currently running a trial of nagiosxi, though purchase has been approved internally. Once we're fully configured in our test environment we'll go live and be "official" and all. Until then, I guess I can't post a topic in the Xi support forum, so here I am.
Current install was built using the vmware image nagios provides for testing xi. Running on 64bit centos. Nothing fancy/special.
I'm not sure I have a "problem", just an inquiry. I've read through the docs on Users and Contacts, how they relate and all, but what I'm curious about is if I can manually add contacts to existing users I've brought in from AD, or if I need to let the add user populate contacts in the CCM. I've noticed that if the username in CCM doesn't match exactly what the username is for the xi user, then things don't seem to sync. Is that the ONLY dependency between the two? Is there other metadata in the database that I need to be aware of?
xi users vs contact
Re: xi users vs contact
We have a general XI forum that everyone can access. I'll move this topic there. If you're having issues getting your customer forum access, please email [email protected]NathanS wrote:I guess I can't post a topic in the Xi support forum, so here I am.
As far as your question goes, if the user and the contact have the same name, they should just link up. Regardless of date of creation. I'm not aware of anything in the database, we generally don't recommend direct modification of the database.
