Onboard servers with FQDN instead of IP

Post by jyoti22 »

Hi Team,
I am currently on-boarding the servers to nagios with IP address. However because of this true alerts are missing.

yesterday one outage had happened due to Hostname Change but Nagios shows the system is running fine because it configured with IP address.

we have many servers having DHCP address and those server IP address get automatically changes after the DHCP lease. If we configure the system with IP address then definitely give a false alert. Can it be possible to use FQDN instead of IP address while server on-board?

No problem. Did you need further assistance with this or can I close this thread out?
