Cannot monitor any Windows Servers...

Post by TheWeez »

I have installed the trial version and when I run the config wizard, it comes back and says everything is OK. When I attempt to look at the services I set up to monitor, all I can see is that there is an error saying "check_nt: Could not parse arguments" for every Windows item I want to monitor with the exception of "ping". I'm lost. Any advice would be much appreciated.

My first (perhaps somewhat obvious) question is did you install the Windows Agent on the target machines? http://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=396

I have installed the NSClient++ agent on my test server. I've looked at the agent config and there's not much to change there. The service is running and there are no event log entries that would lead me to believe something is wrong with the agent. Thank you for your reply.

Could you tell use what values you filled in in the wizards, including any quotation marks, etc.? Also, did you have a password set or did you leave the password blank? What version of XI is this on? (Some versions of XI didn't allow for blank passwords.)

I downloaded the VMWare version last Friday so I guess it's the newest version? I just tried to set it up using a blank password and now my error is "NSClient - ERROR: Invalid password.".

I just tried a test server and now my error is "Connection Refused". I've turned off the firewall to make sure that wasn't the issue but it had no effect. I'm one day into my trial and about to give up.

Please provide a screenshot of Step 3 of the Wizard with all of your fields for checks filled in so I can see what arguments you gave. I just pulled up a fresh 2009R1.1H virtual machine, ran through both the Windows Server and Windows Desktop wizards, and both are producing checks that are working perfectly, so unless you can give me more information it's going to be near impossible to further troubleshoot this for you.
