I get this error/warning :

Update Check Problem: Last update check failed.

Latest Available Version: 2014R2.6
Installed Version: 2014R2.6
Last Update Check: 2015-12-15 09:25:00

cannot see details in the logs of what the problem is. proxy is configured

Odd that it doesn't work, even with the proxy configured. Is running a manual upgrade an option for you?

the manual upgrade should be ok but I am wodering what/where the problem is. it seems that the check is done (see the date which is a recent one) but I get the warning. can you please advice where/what to check?

Take a look at the Apache logs while you click on the Check for Updates button to see if there is any information that could help.

Do you have access to the log files on your proxy server to see if there are any errors?

I tried to perform a 'Check for Updates now' at 11:11 but logs were not updated;

-rw-r----- 1 root root 134237 Jan 19 11:09 error_log
-rw-r----- 1 root root 8816389 Jan 19 11:10 access_log

but on the proxy log I have:

Does your proxy allow api.nagios.com?
