Configure service dependencies based on host check status

Hi

Is it possible to suppress service check notifications based on the result of the check-host-alive host check? Currently Nagios still alerts if the host is unavailable, and is shown as being unavailable in Nagios.

Or is it necessary to have a service check that does a check_ping for each host?
