Nagios XI Monitoring Issue.. Please HELP!

Post by oryfoxer7410 »

First, I want to start by saying thank you for your help!

So, I am having issues getting my Hosts to show up in Nagios XI under monitoring. I used Auto-Discovery which located my hosts then I renamed the hosts and added the services i needed to be monitored. Now, if I go to the Nagios Core Configuration Manager, I am able to see all of my Hosts and Services, but when I go to the main monitoring page for Nagios XI and try to look at the monitoring details/host details, nothing shows up.

This is my issue. Nagios appears to be currently monitoring my hosts correctly as I can see the information when I look at Nagios Core Configuration Manager, but I cannot see them when I click on the Hosts from the main page. Now, I am able to see my Host Groups, but it doesn't show that any hosts are apart of it.

Does that make since? Can someone please help?! I really need to get this working because I want to put the monitoring graphs and other gadgets on a TV, but I can't get anything to show up anywhere!

Thanks in advance for the support!

What version of Nagios XI are you using? Did you read or tried any of the steps outlined on our wiki page?

http://support.nagios.com/wiki/index.ph ... n_Problems

Do you get any errors when you run the Write Config Tool?

No, I do not get any errors when applying the configuration.

I am using the VHD I downloaded from Nagios.com that is pre-installed with the latest Nagios version.

Also, I am looking through the WIki you posted, but the thing is I never added any plugins or wizards... I used the pre-configured VHD.

No I don't get errors and I used the VHD that was preconfigured by Nagios. I am still having issues, I ran through the link you gave me, but I had been there before and wasn't able to fix this issue.

I reset the permissions which did nothing.

Can someone please help me? I need to get this running or we will not be able to use Nagios which I really want to use this program for our servers.

This sounds very much like the Core Config Manager has the information but is unable to apply it. Does it give you all green indicators when you do the "Apply Configuration" at the Core Config Manager > Quick Tools > Apply Configuration.

If they are green, did you specify a new password for your MySQL database?

Yes, they are all green when applying the configuration. Now, I did go through and change all the default passwords to my own password.

Here is the Nagios Core Config Manger Log. It is copying correctly, just not showing up in Nagios XI, only showing up in the Nagios Core manager.

If they are green, did you specify a new password for your MySQL database?
I looked in to the password thing. I changed the Sub-System Credentials all to the same password.

Now, I do see what password you are talking about which is under the NagiosQL settings, I haven't touched that until now, I set it to what I changed the other passwords to just to see if it would fix the issue, but it didn't seem to do anything.

I got this error when I clicked on Service Status under Details.

SQL: SQL Error [ndoutils] : Table './nagios/nagios_servicestatus' is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed SQL: SQL Error [ndoutils] : Table './nagios/nagios_hoststatus' is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed

I got this error when I clicked on HOst Details.

Also,
I see the account being used for SQL is nagiosql, which I added to the COnfiguration Access Management as a user with all permissions and I set the password to the what I had put under COnfig Manager. I don't know if this was necessary, but I did.

Okay, I just noticed when I try to apply settings on the Nagios Core COnfig Manager, i get "An error occurred while writing settings.php. Please check permissions! "

So, I downloaded http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ssions.pdf and reset the permissions, but still it doesn't seem to be working. Getting the same error.
