Multiple Templates on a host don't work

Post by steve1234 »

I'm running Nagios XI 5.2.3 on the VMWare vApp, which appears to be running CentOS 6.7.

I've created a bunch of host templates, and tied these host templates to host groups. Then I've tied services to these host groups. Whenever I tie multiple templates to a host, only the first template listed works, everything after has no effect.

So for example I have a host group for SQL Servers that has all my checks for a SQL server. I've tied a host template to this hostgroup. Then I have another host group for Windows Servers and have a host template tied to this host group. The reason I want to tie it to a template is because my notifications on a SQL Server could be different than just a Windows Server, and I would like to bring this notification information over.

There may be a better way to accomplish what I want, but everything I read said to use templates as much as possible. Please let me know the best way to accomplish this.

Thanks

I believe you can add multiple host templates by using the syntax use template1,template2.

Can you post your host definition and related definitions for us to take a look at?
