Displaying timezone information

Post by drug »

Is it possible to have the timezone name displayed within the web interface similar to how the LONGDATETIME macro is displayed?

E.g. instead of:
Last Check Time: 02-04-2016 15:04:49
it could read
Last Check Time: 02-04-2016 15:04:49 UTC

This is Nagios XI 5.2.3 with a system profile time of:
Date/Time
PHP Timezone: UTC
PHP Time: Thu, 04 Feb 2016 15:13:48 +0000
System Time: Thu, 04 Feb 2016 15:13:48 +0000

Sorry, there is not a built-in option for such a modification. I'd be happy to file a feature request for you regarding this topic, if you like.

Yes, this would be very valuable to us. Many of our customers that will be using this interface to view their systems may be confused by the time and assume it to be local to their time zone. Thank you!

Just need to clarify before filing a feature request. I'm assuming a scenario similar to this....

User is physically located in GMT +1, who logs into an XI machine physically located in GMT -6.

You want "Last Check Time:" to display the logged in user's time zone, correct?

Correct, although ideally each user would be able to manually set their preferred time zone within their profile/settings. Even if the logged-in user's timezone is to be assumed I think that timezone name should still be displayed to the user along with the time so there is no ambiguity as to what time is being displayed.

Thanks for clarifying. I filed the feature request = TASK ID 7673. Were there any other questions or is it OK if I lock this thread?
