Monitoring fails after upgrading ESXi hosts

Post by Hollow »

Dear community,

One of our ESXi hosts were upgraded from 4.1 to 5.5U2 and there is an error on Nagios monitoring that particular server:

CHECK_VMWARE_API.PL CRITICAL - Error: Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password.

As the upgrade of the ESXi host was not done by me, I am not sure what went wrong.

Has anyone encountered this? Appreciated.

Did the credentials change at all when they upgraded the machine? What is the full command that is running to receive this?

Case close!
For some reason, when upgrading from 4.1 to 5.5U2, the permission of the host is resetted.
Added back the login username and password and it works.

Glad to hear it's working. I'm going to go ahead and close this thread.
