Tools and https

Post by smoren »

Hello,

this is just small convenience feature request - please add ‚Open in new window‘ icon after tool name. This may be also configurable for each tool.
Under some circumstances it is not possible to open specific tool in iframe.
My observation: If Nagios XI is using https and tool is configured to use http protocol, in some browsers this tool will not open("nothing happens"). E.g. in our environment, one tool will not open in Chrome, but will open in IE.
What's your thoughts on this?
Thanks.

...I know, workaround is easy (right click and open in new tab/window) :-)

I could try to test here real quick, but on what Chrome version does this occur and with what specific tool? To be honest though, I highly doubt anything would be done if we're talking about older versions of IE, Chrome or Firefox.

Bwallace, OP just asks for:
add ‚Open in new window‘ icon after tool name
This seems like a perfectly valid and usable feature request to me. When nagios is uing HTTPS, opening HTTP web applications will results in insecure content issues. Having the ability to open tools in a new tab or Window will prevent this. This is very easy to do: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_links.asp

Thank you, WillemDH. Security was my concern.
@bwallace: This is not an issue with Nagios vs Browser. This feature might help nagios xi users to overcome stringent security settings of their browsers.

I am still rather new here, so thanks for the clarification WillemDH.
