Adding Cisco Switches -- port 0/1 reporting

Post by tcanthonyii »

First of all I would have posted this in the support forum but I don't seem to have access to that for some reason even though we've paid for support.

OK we are new to Nagios. I've spent the last month or so working to add all of our equip. to Nagios XI. I've gotten our windows machines, linux machines , internet routers and phone routers into the system. Adding our switches has been straight forward as well except that some of our switches do not have 0/1 in use. It seems as though the Wizard expects 0/1 to be active, the unfortunate part is that there is no service configured for this port so I'm unable to shut it off. Subsequently I get an alert that "Connection to Router Status" is critical. How do I get this to go away? I have 5 or 6 switches that this happens to.

I've removed all servers for this router and removed the host then re-added. Same problem. I did apply the config after each service/host delete. When trying to find the service reporting in error it says "The object is currently set as Inactive and will not be written to the configuration files". The service that opens with this message is compeltely blank.

Any help is much appreciated.

Are you able to manually navigate to Configure -> Core Config Manager -> Click '### Services' -> Find the service in question manually? If so, can you please post a screenshot of this page.

I'm looking at your third screenshot - did you import from a previous Core config, or has this been a fresh XI install / setup?

What you are asking me to do I've already done. The service does not exist in that view.

This is a brand new install. I just added these switches Monday for the first time to Nagios. I used the wizard and selected the ports I wanted to monitor. 0/1 was not one of the ports I selected.

It may be named as something else, can you take a screenshot of your '### Services' page?
