The problem was found to be caused by excessive backup files in /etc/nagiosql/backup. When the import command is executed in the web interface, several directories are scanned including this one. There were so many files in /etc/nagiosql/backup that the page timed out before a result was displayed. After the excessive files in /etc/nagiosql/backup were removed, the import function now works normally.
