Generating Test Email Alerts

Is there a way to generate a test email alert against hosts, without actually having to bring a server down?

I do not want to do the one under My Account-->Notification Options-->Send Test Notifications
That will only test that you can get an email. I'm trying to generate an email that actually pulls the information you're expecting to see in the email alert. Just to make sure it's putting the correct info into the variables.

From the advanced tab of the host you could submit a couple of passive "critical" check results until the max check attempts has been reached.
